FISIP Undip’s 180th Yudisium: Celebrating the Courage to Move Forward and the Spirit of Lifelong Learning

SEMARANG (11/4) — “Courage means moving forward despite fear.” This was the prevailing message at the 180th Yudisium Ceremony of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Diponegoro (Undip). More than a formal conclusion to academic study, the Yudisium marked a new beginning — a moment to embrace lifelong learning and the courage to navigate an ever-changing world. In the face of uncertainty and transformation, courage becomes the key for graduates to keep growing and making meaningful contributions across different walks of life.

The 180th Yudisium of FISIP Undip was held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the FIMENA Auditorium, Building A, 3rd Floor, Tembalang. Conducted in a single session, the ceremony gathered prospective graduates from five departments: Public Administration, Political Science and Government, Communication Science, Business Administration, and International Relations. Upholding tradition, FISIP also invited parents and guardians to witness this significant academic milestone together.

In the Academic Report, the Vice Dean of Academic and Student Affairs of FISIP Undip, S. Rouli Manalu, S.Sos., M.Comm.St., Ph.D., said that 98 prospective graduates from undergraduate to doctoral levels participated in this graduation ceremony. She expressed appreciation for their achievements and emphasized the importance of continuous learning beyond the university. “Graduation is not the end of learning. It is the sign that we are ready to learn in new ways,” she remarked, underscoring that graduation represents not closure, but the beginning of a lifelong journey of growth, courage, and transformation.

Representing the prospective graduates, Ghassan Ahmad Lazzuardy from the Government Studies Program delivered an inspiring address highlighting the social responsibility of FISIP alumni to apply their knowledge for the greater good. He urged his peers to continue making a difference beyond academia. “FISIP Undip graduates must be impactful and meaningful — to be impactful means to dare to spark change, to be meaningful means ensuring that the change brings goodness to others,” he declared passionately.

Dr. Ir. Djoko Hartoyo, S.T., M.Mar.Sc., IPU, attending as a parent representative and father of International Relations prospective graduate, Muhammad Napoleon Hartoyo, expressed deep gratitude to FISIP Undip’s academic community for their dedication in guiding students throughout their academic journey. He also shared a heartfelt message for the prospective graduates: “As parents, we are grateful and proud to witness our children complete their higher education at FISIP Undip,” he said emotionally, encouraging them to face the next chapter of life with courage and confidence.

In his address, Dean of FISIP Undip, Dr. Drs. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin., reflected on the importance of embracing every process in life as a learning experience. “Whatever we receive today is a process that must be embraced, so that we are prepared to face every stage and every dynamic of life that lies ahead,” he noted. He also shared proud achievements — Undip’s global ranking at 624th and FISIP’s position at 526th in the QS World University Rankings (QS WUR). Dr. Teguh further encouraged prospective graduates to be bold in starting their careers not only in Indonesia but also abroad, and highlighted FISIP’s academic facilities designed to support student development and global competitiveness.

The ceremony concluded on a warm and emotional note as Dr. Teguh performed the song “Ayah”, followed by performances from faculty members representing FISIP’s five departments. The performances symbolized unity, gratitude, and celebration — a reminder that the courage to move forward and the passion for lifelong learning will continue to thrive within every member of the FISIP Undip community.
