FISIP Undip to Welcome Smart Campus Tour: Promoting the Use of AI and E-Resources to Boost Scientific Publication Productivity

Semarang (July 17) — In today’s rapidly advancing digital era, mastering the use of technology—particularly artificial intelligence (AI), electronic resources, and publishing platforms—has become crucial in supporting academic productivity. These skills not only enhance efficiency in writing and research processes but also broaden the dissemination of knowledge through high-quality scientific publications. Acknowledging this need, the Library Technical Implementation Unit (UPT Perpustakaan) and Undip Press of Universitas Diponegoro organized the Smart Campus Tour: AI Tools, E-Resources, and Publication Proficiency program, held from July 15–25, 2025, across various faculties and schools within the university.

The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) was among the faculties visited by the Library and Undip Press team on Thursday, July 17, 2025. The event took place in the Theater Room, Building C, 1st Floor, at the FISIP Undip Campus in Tembalang and was attended by lecturers from multiple departments within the faculty.

Dean of FISIP Undip, Dr. Drs. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin., expressed his appreciation for the event, highlighting its great benefit to the academic community. He underscored the importance of leveraging technology to support academic productivity. “Today, we will gain an understanding of the importance of using technology to produce, shape, and create books, as well as various types of publications, journals, articles, and more,” he stated. He also emphasized that events like this open wider opportunities for lecturers and researchers to optimize available resources in producing high-quality scholarly work.

Head of the UPT Perpustakaan and Undip Press, Suwondo, S.Hum., M.Kom., introduced various library services that can be accessed both online and offline. He outlined the ongoing steps being taken to ease access to services for the academic community, ranging from e-book collections and international journals to scientific publication facilities via Undip Press.

Furthermore, Suwondo addressed the role of artificial intelligence in supporting academic processes. He reminded the participants that although AI offers convenience in producing academic works, its use must remain within the bounds of responsible scholarship. “AI is merely a tool—it helps us accelerate our work,” he explained. He also encouraged participants not to become overly reliant on AI, but instead to use it as a support tool in developing ideas and academic content.

This event is expected to enhance the ability of FISIP Undip lecturers to effectively utilize digital technologies and library resources in driving research and publication productivity. The Smart Campus Tour serves as a strategic initiative to strengthen an academic culture that adapts to the advancements of information technology.
