Soaring Achievements and Down-to-Earth Leadership: The Inspiring Spirit of Undip’s 68th Anniversary at FISIP Undip

SEMARANG – As it enters its 68th year, Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) continues to solidify its stature as a leading research university, deeply rooted in populist values. Under the leadership of a down-to-earth Rector, Undip is making steadfast progress toward world-class status without losing its identity as a “campus of the people’s struggle.” This spirit permeates the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), which serves as a key intellectual hub propelling Undip’s remarkable ascent.

A People’s Rector, Leadership That Touches Hearts

In various forums, the Rector of Universitas Diponegoro is known as a “people’s rector”—a figure who maintains a close connection with the academic community. He is frequently present at faculty events, engages in dialogue with students, and observes academic activities in the field. This approachability is not merely symbolic; it forms the foundation of a leadership style that generates positive energy across all university levels.

“Our Rector is a leader who is present, not just visible at the podium. He listens, provides space, and ignites the spirit of collaboration across faculties,” stated Dr. Drs. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin, Dean of FISIP Undip.

According to him, the Rector’s leadership style is a model for how a modern university can achieve significant growth without abandoning its humanistic values.

FISIP and Social Contribution Amid Undip’s Great Leap

This year’s Undip Anniversary serves as a moment of reflection, highlighting that Undip is not only growing academically but also becoming increasingly relevant to the needs of the times. Amidst advancements in science and technology, FISIP acts as a social anchor, ensuring the university’s progress remains aligned with humanistic values, social justice, and inclusive development.

FISIP Undip has made significant contributions to the university’s achievements, which now include a national ranking of 2nd, 38th in Asia, and 382nd globally according to EduRank 2025. Furthermore, in the QS World University Rankings, FISIP Undip is positioned 501-550 globally. Additionally, eight study programs within FISIP have received international accreditation from FIBAA.

This progress is inextricably linked to the Rector’s encouragement, which grants faculties the autonomy and creative freedom to grow according to their academic character.

“The Rector encourages us not only to pursue rankings but also to create social impact. That is the true spirit of Undip,” added Dean Teguh Yuwono.

FISIP in an Era of Collaborative Leadership

In line with the spirit of Undip’s 68th Anniversary, FISIP Undip reaffirms its role as a faculty that blends academic strength with social action. Various initiatives—from public policy research and social advocacy to digital literacy programs and partnerships with government agencies and community organizations—stand as concrete proof of FISIP’s contribution to Undip’s advancing momentum.

“Social and political sciences are not just theories; they are a moral compass for the nation’s progress. We want FISIP to be a hub for dialogue, where knowledge meets reality,” expressed Dean Teguh.

Undip Soars, FISIP Moves in Tandem

This year’s Anniversary symbolizes that a great university is supported not only by laboratories and publications but also by its social conscience and the character of its leaders.

The people-centered leadership of the Rector has given Undip a new character, demonstrating that a university can soar in rankings while simultaneously touching the hearts of the community.

With the support of the university’s leadership and cross-faculty cooperation, FISIP Undip is committed to keeping the flame of change alive, striving to be a faculty that thinks globally, embodies a local spirit, and is firmly rooted in the nation’s social values. (Muhammad Rif’at Al-Razi)
