History of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences
Universitas Diponegoro
At the beginning of the establishment of Diponegoro University (Undip), Undip was designated as a State University on October 15, 1960, with the issuance of Government Regulation No. 7 of 1961. At that time, Diponegoro University already had four faculties: the Faculty of Law and Social Knowledge (FHPM), the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Engineering, and the Faculty of Teacher Training and Educational Sciences.
1962
Furthermore, before becoming an independent faculty within Diponegoro University, the Faculty of Social and Politics underwent a 12-year development process. It began with the formation of the “Preparatory Committee for the Establishment of the Faculty of Social and Politics at Diponegoro University,” based on the Decree of the Acting President of Diponegoro University No. 28/c dated January 6, 1962. This committee consisted of two members, Drs. Hartoyo and M. Marsono, with Drs. Sukardjan Hadisutikno serving as the chairperson and Drs. Fajar as the secretary.
1968
Over time, to expedite the establishment of the Faculty of Social and Politics, the committee added three new members: Drs. Soetomodradjat, Drs. Kuncoro Hadi, and Satjipto Rahardjo, SH. This appointment was based on the Decree of the Acting Rector of Diponegoro University No. 41/Skpt/SKJ/1968, dated August 18, 1968.
1995 – 2017
Subsequently, the General Basic Sciences (MKDU) Department was transformed into the UPT-MKU in 1995 and was eventually separated from FISIP Undip, placed under the supervision of the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs. Meanwhile, graduate programs began to be integrated into FISIP following the issuance of Rector’s Decree No. 609 of 2011. Thus, by 2014, there were five graduate programs: the Master of Administrative Science program (which was renamed the Master of Public Administration in 2019 based on Rector’s Decree No. 420/UN7.P/HK/2019), the Master of Political Science, the Master of Communication Science, the Doctor of Public Administration, and the Doctor of Social Science.
In line with Diponegoro University’s development into a State University Legal Entity (PTNBH), all Diploma III programs that were previously part of FISIP were transferred to the Vocational School (SV) starting in 2017.
