Diponegoro University, through the International Relations Program of FISIP, organized an inspiring event titled Career Coaching with Gracia Bern Tobing on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the FISIP UNDIP Theater, Semarang. On this occasion, Gracia Bern Tobing, an alumna of International Relations class of 2013, was present as the main speaker. Gracia shared her inspiring journey since her college years—when she was already active in journalism competitions such as the National Journalism Festival—until she eventually built her career as a news anchor. Although her academic background was not focused on journalism, she demonstrated that passion, determination, and consistency are key elements in pursuing this profession.

The event began with a talk show session, where Gracia recounted her process of building self-confidence, pursuing her passion despite being in a non-communication major, and emphasizing the importance of foreign language proficiency—as an added value that supported her international coverage projects with TVRI World, including a semi-documentary coverage in English about the Dayak Meratus tribe. The talk show was followed by a Q&A session moderated by Dandiansyah, a student of the 2024 cohort, which opened an interactive discussion space for the participants. Various questions arose—from tips on preparing for a career in the media industry to strategies for developing soft skills—all of which were answered with Gracia’s real-life experiences.

The event concluded warmly, with Gracia delivering heartfelt impressions and messages: she emphasized that the world of journalism is open to anyone who has the courage to start and to learn. Her message centered on the importance of consistency, passion, and adaptability. In the final session, several students also shared their impressions and takeaways—stating that they were inspired by Gracia’s determination and journey. This momentum is expected to open new perspectives, provide motivation, and strengthen the spirit of International Relations students at UNDIP in pursuing their studies and designing their future careers.
