SEMARANG, August 28, 2025 – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Diponegoro University (Undip) received a highly valuable intellectual “severance” on Thursday, August 28, 2025. Dr. KH. Muhammad Adnan, a senior lecturer and expert in the field of religion and politics, officially donated four of his authored books to the FISIP Undip library. The handover of these books is expected to enrich the collection of literature and become an important reference for the academic community.
The four books donated are the result of Dr. Adnan’s profound thought and research, namely:1.
- Monograph “Conception of Terrorism”
- “Religion-Based Violence: Mapping of Religious Conflicts in Indonesia”
- “Radicalism and Terrorism: Sketches of Hardline Groups in the World”
- “Short Cut to Political Understanding: A Selection of Concepts in Politics”
In his remarks, Dr. Adnan specifically highlighted the importance of the fourth book, “Short Cut to Political Understanding”, which represents his desire to provide a comprehensive and accessible understanding for students, particularly from the Department of Political Science and Government. This book is designed as an entry point to understand the core concepts in political science.
“My hope is that when students need basic references on political science concepts, they can use this book as a solid initial reference,” said Dr. Adnan.
As stated in the preface of his book: “When concepts in politics possess a fantastic diversity of meanings, it turns out that the definition of politics itself is not singular. One of the purposes of this book being written is to explain to readers the diverse meanings of political concepts through history, culture, and theory; so that we realize the existence of an open contestation of definitions that we can follow.”
The writing contributions of Dr. KH. Muhammad Adnan are an invaluable asset for the academic world. He is a respected figure, combining the depth of knowledge as an academic with the wealth of experience as a practitioner. Serving as a lecturer at Undip since 1987, Dr. Adnan has also been actively involved in the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) organization at the national level, thereby providing a unique and holistic perspective in every analysis.
