Semarang (05/07) – The second session of the second day of the 178th Graduation Ceremony at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Diponegoro (Undip), was solemnly held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, in the Auditorium on the 3rd Floor of Building A, FISIP Undip Tembalang Campus. This pivotal moment marked the culmination of academic journeys for 97 prospective graduates from the Department of Political and Government Studies, who are poised to become agents of change—not merely skilled in making promises but also grounded in integrity, service, and active advocacy for the public good.
According to the Academic Activity Report delivered by the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, S Rouli Manalu, S.Sos., MCommSt., PhD., this graduation session comprised 97 candidates: 3 Doctor of Social Sciences (S3) candidates, 4 Master of Political Science (S2) candidates, and 90 Bachelor of Government Studies (S1) candidates.
In her report, she emphasized the profound responsibility now borne by the prospective graduates as change-makers: “We don’t need politicians who are only good at making promises, but thinkers with integrity, leaders who serve, and active citizens who champion virtuous values in the public sphere.” Rouli urged graduates to create an impact through policy influence and the pursuit of justice, translating their knowledge into tangible benefits for fairer public service.
Besides, Meyla Khofi Yanida, a Bachelor of Government Studies prospective graduate representative, reflected deeply on their meaningful academic journey: “This academic gown is not just fabric—it symbolizes a long journey, silent struggles, and an unyielding spirit.” She expressed gratitude to parents, lecturers, and staff for their unwavering support.
Furthermore, Kadar Lusman, S.E., MM., a parent representative and father of Valda Dwi Lustiani (Government Studies program), shared pride in the prospective graduates’ achievements: “Today, we parents witness not just academic success but the fruits of a long struggle—from lecture halls to this very moment.”
The Dean of FISIP Undip, Dr. Drs. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin., introduced new facilities, including the renamed FIMENA Auditorium (FISIP International Magnificent Encouraging Nobelous Auditorium) and the Madinah Inspiring Chair. He also announced FISIP Undip’s achievement of ranking among the top 500+ globally in the 2024 QS World University Rankings. “Government Studies graduates are born to be leaders,” declared Dr. Teguh, underscoring their role as future leaders. He advised graduates to remain grateful, prioritize sincerity, and acknowledge that their success stems from collective support. “You do the best, and Allah will do the rest,” he concluded, inspiring optimism.
The joyous ceremony closed with a heartfelt performance of “Ayah” by Dr. Teguh Yuwono, followed by a special performance by lecturers from the Department of Political and Government Studies, further enlivening the 178th Graduation Ceremony.
