Semarang (24/04) – Amid the rapid growth of digital media, radio remains one of the most relevant and effective mass communication mediums, particularly for delivering information quickly, building emotional connections, and fostering two-way interactions with listeners. Recognizing this potential, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Diponegoro initiated a meeting with Top Radio to explore a broadcasting collaboration.

The initial meeting between FISIP Undip and Top Radio was held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, in the Senate Meeting Room, 2nd Floor of Building A, FISIP Undip Campus, Tembalang. The Top Radio delegation, led by its Director, Joko Sumpeno, was welcomed by the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of FISIP Undip, S Rouli Manalu, S.Sos., MCommSt., Ph.D.

In her remarks, Rouli explained that the meeting followed up on university-level coordination discussions regarding efforts to reactivate Radio Undip, both in terms of technical aspects and broadcast content. “We hope these initial discussions can proceed quickly and eventually be executed, resulting in a program that will go on air,” said Rouli.

Furthermore, Rouli stated that FISIP Undip would hold internal discussions to design program proposals that could serve as broadcast content for Top Radio. This collaboration is expected to provide a creative space for the academic community, particularly students, to develop their communication and broadcasting skills.

Meanwhile, Top Radio Director, Joko Sumpeno, emphasized the importance of radio as an interactive and friendly medium. “Radio is a companion, radio fosters interaction, and radio requires human resources. Beyond content, we need broadcasters because radio is a companion for daily activities,” he said.

Joko added that Top Radio currently targets listeners ranging from young people to young families. This presents a significant opportunity for students to create fresh, educational, and relevant content that meets the needs of today’s audience.

This meeting marks the first step in synergizing academia and the broadcasting industry to create an intellectually enriching public space. Moving forward, this collaboration is expected to produce radio programs that are not only entertaining but also educational, further expanding FISIP Undip’s role in serving the public with information.
