In order to welcome the implementation of the international workshop entitled “Online Influence Operations and Democracy in Southeast Asia” which will be held on August 22-23, 2025, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Diponegoro University, held a series of pre-event activities on August 20 as an intellectual and collaborative warm-up space.

The pre-event includes an International Scientific Paper Writing Workshop, which aims to strengthen participants’ academic capacity in producing publications that meet the standards of globally reputable journals. Additionally, there will be a screening and discussion of the documentary film “The Envelope of Democracy,” which addresses the issue of money politics as a critical reflection on the quality of local democracy.

The main workshop, held on August 22–23, will feature leading professors and academics from various universities, both domestic and international. Discussions will focus on the dynamics of online influence operations, including the role of digital actors, social media algorithms, and their implications for democratic integrity in the Southeast Asian region.

This series of activities represents a strategic opportunity for academics, researchers, and civil society to deepen their understanding, expand their networks, and formulate collective responses to the increasingly complex challenges of digital democracy.
