Semarang (29/07) — Mastery of basic instructional techniques is a crucial element for lecturers in conducting effective, measurable, and student outcome-oriented learning processes. To support this, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Diponegoro held the PEKERTI Training (Enhancement of Basic Instructional Techniques), which ran for seven days from July 21 to 29, 2025. The event officially concluded on Tuesday, 29 July 2025, in the Senate Meeting Room, Building A, 2nd Floor of FISIP Undip, Tembalang, following the final training session on the same day.
The closing ceremony was attended by the Vice Director of Evaluation and Career Development at Universitas Diponegoro, Prof. Dr. Moh Djaeni, S.T., M.Eng., the Dean of FISIP Undip, Dr. Drs. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin., faculty leadership; and one of the day’s training speakers, Dr. Ir. Haryono Setiyo Huboyo, S.T., M.T., IPM., ASEAN Eng.
In his speech, Prof. Moh Djaeni emphasized the importance of the knowledge gained from the PEKERTI training in supporting lecturers’ teaching professionalism. “From this training, we acquire teaching techniques and knowledge that can later be applied in the classroom,” he explained. He added that the program broadens new lecturers’ perspectives on cognitive, psychomotor, and behavioral aspects of the learning process. Furthermore, he stressed that education is a pathway to improving human life and society, which must be pursued with high integrity and quality service.
Meanwhile, Teguh Yuwono, Dean of FISIP Undip, stated that the PEKERTI training serves as a vital complement in equipping lecturers, particularly new ones, with pedagogical skills. “PEKERTI is designed to enhance lecturers’ skills,” he remarked. He also appreciated the contributions of FISIP figures who helped ensure the success of this training as part of Universitas Diponegoro’s strategic programs.
One of the participants, Johan Bhimo Sukoco, S.Sos., M.Si., a new lecturer at FISIP Undip, shared positive feedback on the training. He expressed that PEKERTI provided highly relevant new insights for his teaching duties. “PEKERTI offers a fresh perspective for us. Through this training, we gained a deeper understanding of research methods, proper teaching techniques, and foundational instructional strategies—all of which will greatly benefit our future teaching practices,” he said.
Over the seven-day program, the PEKERTI training featured experienced speakers covering comprehensive materials, including lesson planning, instructional strategies, learning evaluation, and lecturer professional ethics. All materials were structured to prepare lecturers to manage classes professionally and adapt to the dynamics of higher education in an increasingly competitive era.
With the conclusion of this training, participants are expected to apply the knowledge gained to improve teaching quality while supporting FISIP Undip’s efforts to foster an excellent, innovative, and character-driven academic environment.
