Semarang (30/07) — Amidst ever-evolving global demands, university graduates are expected not only to master technical competencies but also to become adaptive, resilient, and highly competitive individuals. This was the central message delivered by S Rouli Manalu, S.Sos., MCommSt., PhD., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of FISIP Undip, in her address at the 179th FISIP Undip Graduation Ceremony (Session 1), held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the FIMENA Auditorium, Building A, 3rd Floor, FISIP Undip Tembalang Campus.
The first session of the graduation ceremony was attended by 167 prospective graduates from the Department of Business Administration and International Relations, consisting of 8 Master of Business Administration candidates, 80 Bachelor of Business Administration candidates, and 79 Bachelor of International Relations candidates.
In her academic report, Rouli emphasized the importance of graduates transcending technical expertise to become agents of change who prioritize ethics and societal impact. “True knowledge is the one that brings benefit,” she asserted. She also reminded attendees that post-graduation challenges extend beyond securing employment—they include becoming compassionate leaders, ethical professionals, and globally minded citizens who act locally.
The valedictorian speech added a poignant touch to the ceremony. Rayyan Nanda Syalya Lagilote, a Bachelor of Business Administration prospective graduate, shared profound reflections on failure and resilience.
“The ability to keep going even after every loss and still be resilient—that, for me, is the mark of a real champion.”
He also urged fellow prospective graduates to continue contributing to faith, nation, and country, expressing hope that Undip would continue achieving global recognition.
Parents of graduates also delivered meaningful messages. Brigadier General Dr. Azis Adriansyah, S.H., S.I.K., M.Hum., representing parents and father of Alvito Dean Savier (Bachelor of International Relations prospective graduate), advised that the knowledge gained in university should not be reduced to mere grades. “Let knowledge be your foundation for spreading benefit,” he said, stressing the importance of integrity, adaptability, and lifelong learning.
Meanwhile, Dr. Drs. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin., Dean of FISIP Undip, highlighted the faculty’s focus on enhancing graduates’ employability. “Today, our commitment is to prepare all graduates to swiftly enter the workforce,” he explained. He also reaffirmed FISIP Undip’s ambition to rise in global rankings, targeting a top 400 world position in the coming years. Additionally, he reminded graduates that success requires collaboration and communication, not just individual effort.
Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, FISIP Undip showcased 17 premium facilities supporting academic and extracurricular activities, including FISIP International Madany Encouraging Library (FIMEL), Student Creativity Program (PKM) Room, Outdoor Learning Spaces, FISIP Café, IKA FISIP Undip Co-Working Space, International-standard Theater Hall, and Various specialized learning laboratories.
The ceremony concluded on an emotional note as the Dean, Dr. Teguh Yuwono, performed the song “Ayah” (Father), followed by performances from lecturers of the Business Administration and International Relations Departments, symbolizing solidarity and pride in the graduates’ achievements.
The 179th FISIP Undip Graduation Ceremony (Session 1) was not merely an academic formality but a milestone instilling values and motivation—equipping graduates to apply their knowledge ethically, contribute meaningfully to society, and uphold humanity in their future endeavors.
