Semarang (06/05) – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) held its 178th Graduation Ceremony (Session 2) in the Auditorium on the 3rd Floor of Building A, FISIP Undip Campus, Tembalang. The event was attended by 127 prospective graduates from the Department of Communication Science and International Relations, consisting of 12 Master of Communication Science candidates, 91 Bachelor of Communication Science candidates, and 24 Bachelor of International Relations candidates.
In her report, the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, S Rouli Manalu, S.Sos., MCommSt., PhD., emphasized the strategic role of FISIP Undip graduates. “You are not merely graduates, but future thought leaders, cultural bridges, and voices of truth,” she asserted. Rouli also encouraged the prospective graduates to become agents of change capable of fostering unity and understanding amid global challenges, while reminding them of the importance of adaptability and integrity in navigating the dynamics of communication and international relations.
Additionally, Jesika Exsperanza, a representative of the prospective graduates from the Bachelor of Communication Science program, expressed gratitude for the academic community’s support. “FISIP has been our second home—a place where we fell, learned, and rose again,” she shared. Meanwhile, B. Kusuma Himawan, A.Md.T., S.T., a parent of a Bachelor of International Relations prospective graduate and an Undip alumnus, imparted wisdom: “A diploma is a ticket to change the world, for education is a passport to the future.”
Furthermore, the Dean of FISIP Undip, Dr. Drs. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin., highlighted the faculty’s achievements, including its position in the top 500+ globally according to the 2024 QS World University Rankings and second nationally per EduRank. He also introduced new facilities such as the FIMENA Auditorium (FISIP International Magnificent Encouraging Nobelous Auditorium) and the Madinah Inspiring Chair.
The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt rendition of “Ayah” by Dr. Teguh and performances by lecturers from the Department of Communication Science and International Relations, leaving attendees moved and proud.
This graduation marks not only the culmination of academic journeys but also the beginning of graduates’ new roles as changemakers, armed with the knowledge and values cultivated during their time at FISIP Undip.
