The 178th Graduation Ceremony Session 1 at FISIP Undip: Emphasizing Public Administration Graduates’ Role in Creating Positive Societal Impact

Semarang (06/05) – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) held its 178th Graduation Ceremony (Session 1) on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the FIMENA Auditorium (FISIP International Magnificent Encouraging Nobelous Auditorium), 3rd Floor of Building A, FISIP Undip Tembalang Campus. The event, attended by 154 prospective graduates from the Department of Public Administration, highlighted the profound meaning of becoming graduates who create tangible societal impact.

In her academic report, the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, S Rouli Manalu, S.Sos., MCommSt., PhD., emphasized: “Creating impact doesn’t require holding high office. True impact means your presence, wherever you are, drives positive change.” She underscored that integrity and public service values are the core foundations for Public Administration graduates.

This ceremony, part of a four-session series spanning two days (May 6-7, 2025), specifically honoured prospective graduates from the Department of Public Administration, including 3 doctoral candidates, 7 master’s candidates, 110 regular undergraduate students, and 34 undergraduate students from the Rembang PSDKU program. In her address, Rouli Manalu extended congratulations while urging graduates to remain adaptive, innovative, and attuned to societal needs. She stressed that the world needs leaders who not only understand regulations but can also humanize systems and respond to evolving challenges.

Tabitha Patricia Muaja, a Bachelor of Public Administration prospective graduate representative, reflected: “FISIP Undip was more than an institution of learning—it was a space for growth, shaping our critical thinking, sharpening our conscience, and instilling values of truth and justice.” She called on her peers to step forward with integrity, empathy, and commitment to uphold the university’s reputation.

Ivan Adriansyah, a parent representative, expressed deep gratitude: “As parents, we are endlessly thankful to FISIP Undip’s academic community and staff, who imparted not only knowledge but also moral guidance and ethical principles.” He encouraged graduates to continue serving society while developing their potential.

The Dean of FISIP Undip, Dr. Drs. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin., showcased the faculty’s achievements, including its top 500+ global ranking in the 2024 QS World University Rankings and first-place recognition as the Best University for Public Policy/Administration in Indonesia by EduRank. He proudly noted: “Public Administration holds an unbroken record: our graduates complete their studies fastest—in just 3 years and 8 months.” The Dean also introduced new facilities like the Madinah Inspiring Chair and advised: “May this graduation inspire self-reflection and a commitment to sustain excellence.”

The solemn ceremony concluded with a heartfelt performance of “Ayah” by Dr. Teguh Yuwono, deepening the farewell’s emotional resonance. This graduation not only marked academic completion but also reinforced graduates’ pledge to become change agents, equipped with the knowledge and character forged at FISIP Undip.
